The SnorEnder
After several years of experimentation and development, the SnorEnder came on to the market in late 2004. It is an advanced type of chin strap. Chin straps work most effectively for mouth breathers. The basic principle of any chin strap is to keep the sleeping snorer’s mouth closed, promoting nasal breathing. This type of device also helps stop the jaw from falling down and back. When the jaw does falls down and backwards the airways of the throat are narrowed and that can result in snoring. Often people are put off with the very thought of wearing head gear every night. But it is interesting to note that many who have had success with this type of device find that overtime breathing changes lead to a point where they no longer need the device. The SnorEnder is different from other types of straps in that it also incorporates acupressure and magnetic therapy. How acupressure and magnetic therapy work is still under investigation. There is a suggestion that acupressure stimulates endorfins that help relax the body and in the case of snoring help relax the jaw into a more natural non snoring position. Among many conditions that are treated by acupressure, the snoring related conditions may show improvement. Anxiety, asthma, bronchitis, deafness and tinnitus, hayfever and allergies, headaches, head colds and flu, high blood pressure, insomnia, jaw, neck ache and sinus problems. In many cases the difference between snoring and not snoring can be the result of one small change. The manufacturer and distributors of this product don’t make carte blanche claims about fixing all types of snoring. They have what they call “THE NOSE TEST” to find out if the product should work for you. They also have an openly disclosed return rate of 10%. That is 1 in 10 people who try the product, ask for and get a refund. Is that a good rate or not? Their website is very helpful with regards to using the SnorEnder with useful simple tips on how to enhance your sleeping environment and explanations of how the different components work together to reduce your snoring.
