Snoring Spray

The results reported by people who use a snoring spray are varied. Some people have found no noticeable difference. Others claim an immediate reduction in their levels of snoring. For a definitive answer you would have to poll the partners or monitor the levels with a recording device.

Snoring is caused by a disturbance in the airways. The narrowing and/or collapsing of airways can be brought on by many different factors and this is one reason there are so many different snoring solutions. All snoring remedies aim to clear the airways in some way and a spray is no different.

The spray manufacturers claim their products work by lubricating and tightening the muscles of the throat and mouth, reducing the amount of vibration and hence the level of snoring. They may additionally break down mucus and make it easier to breathe through the nose. They make no claim on the lasting effects of using a spray remedy. So the reduction would seem to last only as long as you use it.

Exercises that activate the tongue have been shown to help snoring. Whether they are general singing exercises of more specific snoring exercises they tend to make for a more active tongue muscle even in the night. I suppose this is in the same way that people who regularly do core (tummy) exercises have a more active core and better posture than previously even when they don't think about it. Additionally an active tongue muscle through the night will be using oxygen and creating carbon dioxide which is a proven vasodilator. (Relaxes of the blood vessels and smooth muscle cells of the body causing lower blood pressure and opening of the airways.)

There are many cases where the use of snoring spray can be helpful, including, managing a change of season, or change of climate or diet, or any time when you are suffering heavier than usual snoring.

There doesn’t seem to be any one type of snorer that benefits from using a spray, but people who have mild or occasional snoring seem to report the best results. Determining if a spray will remedy your snoring probably comes down to trial and error. Reading the list of active ingredients may give some help to selecting one brand over another. Additionally speaking with a pharmacist can be helpful as they often have first hand feed back from other customers about various products.
