Snoring Symptoms – Signs of Impending Health Hazards

Most people are unaware that they snore while asleep. And snoring symptoms causes quite a stir in the personal and domestic lives of snorers. Several conditions associated with snoring have the potential of leading into severe health hazards, such as sleep apnea, high blood pressure, respiratory problems, and heart diseases if left undiagnosed and untreated. This article is an attempt to bring as many of these snoring symptoms to light as possible.

Snoring is a sound or noise caused by the vibrations of the respiratory structures due to obstruction in the airway. Nighttime snoring has various daytime repercussions/symptoms that a snorer has to deal with on a regular basis. Sleep Apnea is a deadly disorder that is directly related to snoring.

* Loud snoring - Primary indicator that not only disturbs your sleep but also of those around you who are subjected to it.

* Daytime sleepiness – Feeling groggy for the entire day

* Restlessness – Restless sleep during the night with lots of tossing and turning.

* Gasping for breath – Want of breath caused due to a blockage in the airway

* Constant awakening – Waking up several times during sleep at night and experiencing difficulty falling back to sleep

* No Comprehension of the awakenings – Lack of awareness about the frequent arousals

* Headaches – Waking up with a headache in the morning, on a regular basis

* Falling asleep during odd times – Falling asleep while driving, watching television, even in the middle of a conversation

* Listlessness – Lack of energy, feeling sapped the whole day, no motivation whatsoever to carry out routine work during the day

* Forgetfulness – Unable to remember things related to regular, routine tasks.

* Irritability and mood swings – Behavioral changes due to improper rest and poor sleep during the night

* Depression and Anxiety – Psychological implications because of disturbed sleep and irregular sleep patterns. * Concentration problems – Lack of concentration due to muted supply of oxygen to the brain due to blockages in the airway coupled with a lack of normal sleep hours in a day

* Strain on interpersonal relationships – Partner or spouse is the usual victim of the effects of snoring. Snoring and its resultant effects spill on to ruin the personal interactions within the family.

It is not necessary that all these signs point towards the likelihood of you being afflicted with snoring or snoring related issues such as poor sleep and sleep apnea. Occasional snorers do not show as many grave signs of serious illness as habitual snorers. However, if you think that you have a few of the snoring symptoms mentioned above it is advisable to consult a doctor and get a proper diagnose to rule out the possibility of you being affected by serious ailments relating to snoring.
