Want to Stop Snoring?
You want to stop snoring but are you prepared to do what it takes? I’m NOT talking about expensive surgery or painful procedures but I am talking about choices, life choices.I think snoring is a good thing and later I’ll tell you why. Right now you should know that if you currently snore I’m probably going to offend your sensibilities and I’m going to tell you some things you don’t want to hear. But if you’re serious about a stop snoring solution, please read on. If not just click the back button. There’s your first choice. I know snoring can be very embarrassing and disturbing, not to mention health destroying, so when someone finally decides to try and stop snoring they will often try just about anything. And there are lots of different solutions touted out there. Because not all solutions work for everyone where should one logically start? You don’t want to be paying for a solution to stop snoring that isn't going to work for you. And may I add the solution that works for you may have no charge. But there’s no money in that for the marketers is there? Many people don’t like to hear what I’m going to say now. Marketers won’t tell you this because it decreases the chance of them making a sale. But your snoring is a direct result of the way you treat your body. Unless you snored from birth, the fact you snore now is a direct result of choices you made. A marketer would tell you it’s not your fault, it’s the result of some outside influence and buying their product will help you to stop snoring. With my stance the bad news is that you have to take ownership of the problem. The good news is the solution to stop snoring is also in your hands? If many people treated their car engine with the same regard they treat their bodies it wouldn’t last more than a couple of weeks. Bear with me as I take this engine analogy a little further. Consider your body is the engine, the food you eat is the fuel, the way you breathe the air/fuel mixture and exercise and stretching is like changing your oil. When the engine is new and running well it purrs, you hardly hear it. What say we use the wrong fuel. This could lead to carbonation of the spark plugs or maybe overheating of the engine damaging a piston, the rings or the engine it self. The engine would overtime start to run rougher and hearing the rough running engine you would know you needed to make a change. What if you had the wrong amount of air. This could lead to a lean or a rich fuel mixture again resulting in carbonation of the plugs or overheating. The long term result is a poorly running engine. What if you use the right fuel and have the correct mixture but never service the engine. Eventually it will start to run poorly and you will hear it in the way the engine runs. How does this relate to your snoring? Your current state of health is a result of the food you eat (type of fuel), the way you breathe (air mixture) and how you have exercised (engine maintenance). Everything else is irrelevant. The size of your neck, the length of your uvula and other physical attributes may increase your chances of snoring but they do not cause your snoring. The cause is what you eat, how you breathe and how you exercise.I'll repeat that. The cause of your snoring is what you eat, how you breathe and how you exercise. I can hear the cries now “No! Its because I have a narrow throat”, “No!, I always have clogged sinuses. Its not my fault” Yes it is your fault and the sooner you accept it the sooner you’ll have the solution. The good news is that like a car engine if you fix one or all of these components you fix the problem. The reason that each individual stop snoring solution doesn’t work for everyone is that each person has a different cause. If you’re using the wrong fuel, changing the oil isn’t going to fix the problem. Let’s take the food you eat.You may have read that losing weight is a way to reduce snoring. I believe it’s not just the weight but more so the types of food you are eating. Many overweight people stop snorng almost immediately with a change of diet, long before any appreciable weight loss. Changing your fuel has immediate results. The way you breathe has many affects on the body. For example shallow breathing can cause mild hypoxia changing the acidity of the blood and leading to constriction of the soft muscle tissue including airways and arteries. Children who mouth breathe tend to have a more narrow palate that can go on to orthodontic problems and snoring. Changing from mouth breathing to nasal breathing can very quickly stop snoring. The general health of the body is affected by one’s exercise regime. In general it is safe to say someone who exercises regularly tends to be in better health than someone who doesn’t. And specifically snoring can be reduced or eliminated by toning up the musculature around the throat and mouth. Snoring exercises along with a change of diet and improved breathing techniques invariably leads to reduced snoring but more importantly a better and longer lasting engine. If your car engine starts making too much noise, you can either get it serviced or wear ear plugs. The ear plugs take away the audible problem but don’t fix the underlying cause. And if the underlying cause isn’t fixed the engine will eventually stop. Likewise we can fix the audible noise of snoring with ear plugs or surgery to stiffen the palate but it doesn’t address the underlying cause. And to make the point let me remind you that snoring has a direct correlation with heart disease, high blood pressure and other serious ailments. The snoring doesn’t cause these conditions but the underlying fundamentals of what we eat, how we breathe and exercise all do. At the start I said that snoring is a good thing. Well I believe it is because it is an audible warning that you have to adjust one or all of your fundamentals. The way you eat, the way you breathe and how you treat your body. Even better than the snoring is obviously finding a solution to stop snoring.
